Wilbur and Orville Wright ( Wright Brothers ) - Inventors of airplane

Wilbur and Orville Wright succesfully demonstrated the first airplane and a controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air human flight on December 17, 1903

They were involved in a a lot of patent wars, as they tried rigorously to defend their intellectual property in years to come. This somehow shifted their attention off from developing their technology of flying and perfecting it; as is evident from their patents.

We can consider the first patent granted to the wright brothers method of flight control [US821393A] in 1906 as the basic patent or the original patent of an airplane and airplane flight control.
